this is my business

In September of 2005, Politics & Prose Bookstore was celebrating its twenty-first anniversary. We have had much good fortune, but we have also worked hard, have never taken anything for granted, and have constantly taken on new challenges. We owners work on the floor selling books, answering questions, meeting with the staff to imbue them with our values and sensibilities. Great books and customer service are our goals.

Fantastic authors go to P & P to speak and sign books; their selection of books is wonderful; staff are always helpful.

Location, merchandise, ambiance, an old-time favorite that has constantly expanded and faced down the big chains. The coffee shop in the cellar doesn't hurt, either.

The depth of their collection - variety and great content. The intimate setting for readings is also a big draw.

What a breath of fresh air from the big surburban box stores. I take my friends from out of town here, because, P and P is really a Washington DC institution and many recognize it from Book TV. Love the many author readings, and the quick turnaround for books they do not have in stock. Plus it feels like a neighborhood bookstore, with all the benefits of the national chains, the coffee house, the buyers club etc.
